Totem Owl: The Story of Jeagher, the Owl, and Mariposa (aka me!)

Nine animals come together to form the face of an owl. This owl is a multidimensional being who can carry you into the mysterious realms beyond the veil of time and space. It represents the totem of Mariposa, based on her nine totem animals.

Mariposa is the butterfly Goddess who created the Mariposa cards after receiving her nine totems. She was guided to create a painting of them that would lead her into the dimensions of the animals to retrieve information about an aspect of her soul purpose: to bring forth the Mariposa cards. Combining the nine totems in their exact positions in a card spread brought about the face of this owl, who was actually her cousin’s messenger from the other side, letting her know what it meant to channel the realm of spirit through her art work, a process by which the meanings and symbols emerge organically.

Her cousin Jeagher passed away in his sleep at the age of 18 after being visited by a white snow owl in Palm Desert, California. This extraordinary visit took place deep in the desert two weeks before Jaegher passed away. Jaegher had a wonderful two-hour conversation with this wise spirit animal, who guided him home to the stars where he could fulfill his soul purpose from a higher state of being. Through this divine messenger, Jaegher planted the seed of these cards into the consciousness of Mariposa, and this became a catalyst for her great awakening. Jaegher and Mariposa had a soul contract which was fulfilled through his crossing over to the spirit realm.

If you haven't already caught on, Mariposa is me (Alicia) in my butterfly goddess form. Stay tuned in a future blog to hear the story of Mariposa, because this card is really about Jeagher — my cousin who is my main spirit guide. Just as this story unfolds, he is a messenger from the stars, and he guides me in my life, especially through creativity. He died in 2010, and he spent a few years nudging me toward leaving my life and career in animation, toward moving back home to the island where I grew up so that I could return to my roots and start using real paints again. He wanted me to create this deck of cards that would lead me through a series of events which brought me to where I am today — an art teacher sharing my creative spirit with many kids, teens, and adults.

It was divine timing because I returned home in November of 2014, and only months later I lost another close family member in a sudden and tragic way. My mother had already passed away in 2009, just before Jeagher, so there were multiple ways that the spirit realm was reaching out to me. It was becoming increasingly obvious that I was a channel or a medium for my ancestors and other spirit guides to connect and have an effect in the realm of the earth. I began to realize the truth of ancient Egyptian teachings that say we have the power to implement the wisdom of the stars right here on our planet — we can act as conduits for information and co-create with the masters in the stars.

Tune into the next blog for the continuation of this story that picks up not long after I moved to the island and started making the deck of cards. This is a story of how loss and grief can lead to new pathways and even transformation.
